Law Enforcement Recognition

On March 30th, 2010, at the Midland County Horseshoe, FBI -SAC Dave Cuthbertson of the El Paso Division presented Outstanding Achievement certificates to Midland, Ector and Andrews County Investigators assigned to the FBI funded Permian Basin Oilfield Theft Task Force.

During its first year of operation the PBOTTF arrested 25 individuals responsible for major theft of oil and gas equipment and product. PBOTTF was also able to recover over $2 million in stolen property. However the most significant impact of the task force is the accountability restored to the industry. The citizens of the Permian Basin, which includes 54 counties of the State of Texas, are confident in witnessing the success of law enforcement seamlessly working together to address the major problem of the theft of oilfield product and equipment.
