FRAUD & SCAM ALERT

From time to time ESC will feature Fraud Alerts or Scam Alerts on our website as a service to our many members.  These alerts will originate from an identified  law enforcement agency, will be broad in nature and are sent with the belief that forewarning members of these scams will help reduce the likelihood of becoming a victim.  Please feel free to share these alerts with your fellow employees and your relatives.

In an effort to better help fight crime in the oil patch and the entire energy sector, your Energy Security Council launched a Energy Crime Stoppers hotline and in April 2009 this statewide program expanded into seven addtional states.  Tipsters in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming now can join Texans to report anonymous tips through 888-645-TIPS (8477).  UPDATE: We are happy to report that because of the success of this program across eight states, in November 2011 the program extended into Pennsylvania.  We are seeking your help in publicizing the program through the use of Energy Crime Stoppers signs, bumper stickers, and hard hat decals.  Click Here to Order Energy Crime Stoppers Merchandise.

The hotline number for Energy Crime Stoppers is 888-645-TIPS (8477).

ESC is different than other trade organizations because of an ongoing relationship with federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.   ESC's Law Enforcement Liaison Committee provides free training to law enforcement and partner with them in helping protect the energy sector, specifically in the energy producing states of the U.S.
